Pafuri Border Camp lies in the far northern reach of the Kruger National Park, not far from Punda Maria and near the confluence of the Luvuvhu and Limpopo rivers. This remote corner of the park, close to the Zimbabwean and Mozambican borders, is one of the most biodiverse and atmospheric parts of Kruger, with a wild, end-of-the-road feel.
The region is celebrated above all for its birdlife and its great riverine forests of fever trees and giant figs along the Luvuvhu, and for its baobab-studded ridges. It is a destination as much for naturalists and birders as for big-game enthusiasts, though elephant, buffalo and predators all range through the area.
The camp offers a guided experience, with bush walks, sunrise and night drives and full-day safaris led by rangers giving access to more secluded parts of the reserve. It suits travellers seeking an immersive, walking-focused stay in one of the country's richest wilderness areas.
